Shay Wenk, MA, MFTI - Clinical DirectorShay Wenk, MA, LMFT Clinical Director Shay is a certified domestic violence counselor and has worked with victims throughout the community for the past three years. She has worked with adults, adolescents, and families. In addition, Shay has a background in somatic experiencing therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, applied behavioral analysis and play therapy. Before coming to ABC Recovery Center, She worked as a lead therapist at Women’s Transitional Living Center, the largest domestic violence shelter in Orange County. She received her bachelor’s degree from UCLA and her Master's Degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from the California School of Professional Psychology.

 

Dave Martin, M.S. - Outpatient DirectorDave Martin, M.S. Outpatient Director Dave has been working in the Addiction treatment field for over 20 years. He has worked at all levels of care in the Addictions treatment field including Outpatient, Intensive Outpatient, Partial Hospitalization and Inpatient treatment. Three quarters of the jobs that he has held in the field have had a criminal justice component. Those are doing treatment in county jail settings, outpatient treatment of individuals or groups of individuals about to go in or coming out of prison, and doing treatment in the largest inpatient treatment facility “behind the walls” on the east coast of the United States at SCI Waymart, Pa. Dave holds a Masters of Science in Rehabilitation counseling from the University of Scranton.

Jessica Sanchez, MS, MFTI - TherapistJessica Sanchez, MS, MFTI Therapist Jessica is a therapist and group facilitator at ABC Recovery Center. Before coming to ABC Recovery Center Jessica worked at Jewish Family Service of the Desert as a Marriage and Family Therapist Trainee. While with JFS, Jessica co-facilitated an Intensive Outpatient Program for adolescents struggling with substance abuse related issues, provided psychotherapy to individuals and families in the community, and worked with children in elementary school settings. Jessica received her Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Vanguard University of Southern California.

 

Kelly Battaglia, MA, MFTIKelly Battaglia, MA, MFTI Therapist Kelly is new to the clinical team at ABC. She provides individual psychotherapy to our residential clientele and acts as facilitator to various groups on campus. Prior to coming to ABC, Kelly worked as an Associate Clinical Supervisor and Behavior Therapist for California Psychcare. In addition to her work at ABC, Kelly interns with a cancer support organization here in the valley. Kelly earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Psychology from Chapman University.

 

Dr. Mandy Herbster - Transitional Living CoordinatorDr. Mandy Herbster Transitional Living Coordinator Mandy Herbster came on as the Transitional Living Manager here at ABC Recovery Center in March of 2012. She has worked as a residential house mother and is currently running an outpatient process group specialized for the LGBT recovery community. Mandy has obtained both a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science in Biology from Missouri State University. Most recently she earned her Doctorate degree from Washington State University, and is currently pursuing a second M.S. degree in Addiction Studies at University of South Dakota.

 

Jeff Anderson, CAS - Program DirectorJeff Anderson, CAS Program Director Jeff Anderson is Program Director and was previously our Lead Counselor. While serving in the US Army as a co-pilot in scout helicopters, Jeff was assigned as the Non Commissioned Officer to his squadron’s Alcohol and Drug Abuse Division. As facilitator of the relapse prevention and behavior modification programs, he infuses unique and innovative therapeutic approaches to evidenced based treatments. Jeff graduated at the top of his class at the California Association of Addiction Recovery Resources Institute in 2009 and became a Certified Addiction Specialist in 2010. In 2011, Jeff was the recipient of the Frank Lewis Counselor of the Year Award. He is also CARR certified as a Trained Clinical Supervisor. Jeff is trained as an HIV Counselor by APLA and UCLA. Jeff is currently pursuing a degree in psychology.

 

Ally Aiton, CAS - CounselorAlly Aiton, CAS Counselor Ally is our Permanent Supportive Housing Case Manager and worked previously as a Counselor. Ally received a Bachelor of Arts in Family Life Education from California State University at Long Beach and previously worked with families and children in the medical field as a child life specialist for seven years. Ally is a Certified Addiction Specialist and has been certified in the Matrix Model Intensive Outpatient Program.

 

Johnny Courreges, CAS - CounselorJohnny Courreges, CAS Counselor Johnny Courreges, CASII, Counselor. He is a primary residential counselor for the men’s program. Johnny was trained through the California Association of Addiction Recovery Resources Institute and is a certified addiction counselor.

 

Andrea Rickert, CAS - Patient AdvocateAndrea Rickert, CAS Counselor Andrea is a CAS II Counselor and has been a staff member at ABC Recovery Center since 2009. She is a graduate of the CAARR Institute and is a Certified Addiction Specialist certified counselor. During her time as an intern, and now as a staff member, Andrea has assumed many roles including house mother, detox advocate and resident advocate. In 2012, Andrea received the Frank Lewis Counselor of the Year Award.

 

Walter Betters, CAS - CounselorWalter Betters, CAS Counselor Walter is the longest running counselor on the ABC Recovery Center team. He is a primary residential counselor for the men’s program, but has worked in both detoxification and transitional living during his career. Walter is a graduate of the California Association of Addiction Recovery Resources Institute and is a Certified Addiction Specialist.

 

Michelle Williams, CAS - TherapistMichelle Williams, CAS Counselor Michelle is one of the newest additions to the staff at ABC Recovery Center. Michelle was trained through the California Association of Addiction Recovery Resources Institute and is a Certified Addiction Specialist.
